Frequently asked questions
Find the right tool, tune pixelization, edit a model, export frames and recover saved work. These answers reflect the current implementation; the guides provide longer walkthroughs.
Getting started and access
Which tool should I start with?
Use Editor to draw pixels, Sprite to organize video/GIF frames, Pixelizer to change the pixel style of images or 3D, and the 3D workbench to generate or paint a model. The tools have different purposes and export behavior.
Is every feature free?
All Basic features are free except pixelization and 3D tools. A one-time trial is available for select paid features. Choose Pro or Max to continue pixelization and 3D work. Every image or 3D model import in Pixelizer costs 20 credits; image-to-3D generation costs 80 for one image or 100 for 2–4 views. Pro grants 1,000 and Max 4,000 every month, without rollover. Restoring saved work, adjustments and exports cost no extra credits. See plans for your balance and actual checkout currency and prices.
Can I work without signing in?
Local editing and conversion can be started without signing in. Account storage and image-to-3D generation require sign-in. Signing in does not automatically publish your work: account storage and sharing or publishing are different.
Does opening a file upload it?
Ordinary image/video processing, 3D pixelization and texture editing run in the browser. Image-to-3D sends its input to the server and generation service; account synchronization and artwork saving upload the relevant files. Editor AI requests go to the connected service. Not every feature is entirely offline.
Can I use mobile and different browsers?
Use an up-to-date browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Supported video codecs and available memory affect which files can be processed. For large models or long animations, start with a short segment on a desktop. On mobile, collapse panels to make room for the canvas.
Which languages are available?
Korean, English and Japanese are available from the language menu. Tools and documents link to the selected language’s routes. Changing language does not convert the source file to another format.
Pixelization and outlines
Which preset should I use for 3D pixelization?
Start with the default 3D model-to-pixel preset with outlines. Set pose and camera in 3D Input, then PIA long side and color count, then outlines. Choose a source-appropriate preset and change one setting at a time.
How do the two Pixel Perfect modes differ?
Preserve detail is the default and cleans boundaries while retaining small features. Remove detail more actively cleans one-pixel protrusions and irregularities. Turn Draw outline off to compare cleanup alone. Inspect eyes, fingertips and hair tips against the original.
What are the color-outline defaults?
Color outlining, 25% darkness and no light direction. Lines use a darker color related to the nearby interior. Darkness sets their contrast; light direction adjusts the lighter and darker sides. Choose a solid line color for a uniform outline.
What does alpha threshold 120 do?
It is the transparency cutoff used to determine a shape’s boundary. The outline default is 120. Higher values can exclude faint edge pixels; lower values can include more of them. It does not control image brightness or line color. Check thin or translucent features when changing it.
Does PIA fixed frame keep only one frame?
No. It chooses the reference frame for extracting a palette and does not reduce the animation to one frame. If colors used only by a weapon or an alternate pose disappear, compare the palette reference and the complete animation.
Are output pixel size and export scale the same?
No. The long side in PIA/downscaling controls actual pixel resolution. Export scale enlarges finished pixels by an integer factor. Internal 3D grid height is automatically fitted to the memory budget. A larger export scale does not create new artistic detail.
3D models, rigs and motion
Can I open a model I made elsewhere?
Open GLB or glTF in the 3D workbench. Select external .bin and texture files with a glTF. Pixelizer also accepts VOX. A self-contained GLB is convenient for avoiding missing resources. Importing a model is separate from generating a new one from an image.
How does image-to-3D generation work?
Sign in, choose an image, review generation settings and the remaining allowance, then start generation. This uses the server and an external generation service. Download or save the completed model, inspect its texture, orientation and rig, then send it to Pixelizer.
Can the 3D brush fix uneven geometry?
The current brush edits color textures. It supports surface/UV painting, picking colors, smoothing noise, undo and texture replacement. Sculpting geometry, filling holes and making a new UV unwrap require a separate modeling step. Use material color controls if no editable texture exists.
Should I use the file rig or automatic rigging?
Check the file rig first if a skeleton already exists. Use automatic rigging and joint markers when a new skeleton is needed. Wide sleeves and skirts can stretch during motion, so inspect several frames and adjust joint positions and motion amounts.
Why separate rotation from rig alignment angle?
Rotation, viewing elevation and direction count at the top of 3D Input configure rendering cameras. Rig alignment angle sets the facing reference used by rigging. A model sent from the workbench uses its prepared orientation; do not automatically add another 90-degree turn.
The motion is too large or travels too far.
Reduce arms, legs, torso and head motion separately. The default reference is the file’s rest pose; clip mean and first frame are alternatives. Motion amounts reduce movement toward that reference. Enable In place to remove horizontal travel when appropriate, then check jumps and intended displacement.
Frames and sprite export
Why did Sprite export download only one PNG file?
A sprite sheet is one PNG containing multiple frames. Pixelizer’s Sprite button and Ctrl+S export all final frames. If the PNG itself contains only one picture, check output frame count, clip and direction settings. Use ZIP when you need one PNG file per frame.
How are 3D directions and frames arranged?
For identifiable 3D groups, directions form rows and motion frames form columns. Four directions with eight frames produce an 8×4 grid containing 32 images. Other animations use an automatic grid with columns×rows in the filename. Complex branches or an already packed image follow the final output structure.
When should I choose GIF or ZIP?
Use GIF for playback and sharing, a PNG sheet for region-based animation, and ZIP for individual PNGs to arrange elsewhere. A PNG sheet does not automatically include game-engine animation setup or FPS metadata; record timing separately.
Can I remove backgrounds and duplicate frames?
Sprite provides extraction, frame selection and order, reverse/ping-pong, range trimming and duplicate removal. Chroma key and corner-connected removal can clean backgrounds. Increasing tolerance can also remove similar-colored clothing or eyes, so inspect the subject.
Can I edit an existing sprite sheet?
Sprite’s sheet importer splits an image into frames using the configured grid or cell size. You can also merge separate images. Use Editor for direct pixel edits. A PNG sheet does not contain the original layer structure, so it cannot restore those layers automatically.
How do Editor and Pixelizer exports differ?
Editor PNG saves the current frame; its sheet and GIF use the selected animation range. Pixelizer Sprite packs the complete processed output and also offers GIF and individual PNG ZIP. Keep editable work too when you need layers, nodes or source files later.
Storage and troubleshooting
What is local storage versus account storage?
Saved on this device means the work is in this browser’s storage. Saved to account means the relevant upload has completed. Confirm account storage before switching devices. Clearing browser data or closing a private session can affect local work.
How are Pixelizer works and motion libraries stored?
Pixelizer retains source files and node settings locally, with up to 24 works and 64 MB per file. Automatic account sync targets sources of 24 MB or less. User motion GLB libraries are separate. Source work, processing presets and motion libraries are distinct items.
Can I reopen a generated 3D model later?
The workbench automatically keeps models and edits in My 3D works. Sign in and use Save work to copy the current work to your account. There is a 64 MB per-file limit; check completion status. Download an actual GLB rather than only keeping a temporary generation URL.
What should I do about a 3D memory error?
Motion range and frame count affect memory use. Internal resolution is automatically based on the rest pose. For traveling clips, use In place when appropriate and try fewer frames. Save before refreshing an old tab. If the error persists, send the model format, clip, settings and full error text.
A page fails to load after an update.
An old tab can request an earlier asset and show a dynamic-module loading error. Save any work you can before refreshing. If it continues, report the page URL, browser version and error. Avoid clearing site data before backing up local work.
Where do I ask about account deletion, billing or recovery?
Email [email protected] with your sign-in email and request. Include payment time/order identification for billing, or device and save status for work issues. Do not send passwords, login tokens, AI API keys or full card numbers. See Contact for the details to include.
Other tools
Which Editor shortcuts are available?
B pencil, E eraser, G fill, I eyedropper, L line, U rectangle and O ellipse. Ctrl+Z undoes changes; redo is also supported. Finish editing a text or number field before switching tools with a keyboard shortcut.
Is Editor’s AI console automatically connected?
You connect a supported AI service and API key. Requests and relevant inputs are sent to that service, whose terms and usage charges may apply. This is separate from the non-AI Pixelizer algorithms running in the browser.
What can the image converter do?
It supports outputs including PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, GIF and ICO, and batch conversion. Quality controls depend on the format. Check background handling for formats such as JPG that do not support transparency. Use Sprite or Pixelizer to preserve and edit animation frame by frame.
